Add $1.00 to the cost of your room a night and it will be donated into our K.I.D.S. Charity Program. Every dollar can make a difference in a child’s life.
Officially called Kindness in Donations and Services, K.I.D.S. is Hilton Caribbean’s way of helping non-profit organizations devoted to children on the islands where its’ resorts are located. Hilton Caribbean guests and team members play significant roles in raising money. Guests help by voluntarily adding $1 a night to their account when they check out. Team members contribute by donating the time and effort in organizing events that benefit the children and generate funds.
In San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Caribe Hilton often sees more than $70,000 USD raised annually through events such as a fashion show and gala dinners throughout the year. A donation of more than $25,000 USD was given to Fundacíon Esposas Rotarios Pro Niños con Impedimento, an organization dedicated to raising funds to purchase orthopedic equipment for physically challenged children who have scarce economic resources.
The K.I.D.S. annual Christmas Party has long been a spectacular event during which children from a variety of local non-profit institutions can come together to celebrate the holiday season with music, balloons, candy and games.
Each institution is presented with $5,000 USD, and among the recipients are SER de Puerto Rico, Parroquia San Agustin, Fundacíon Sonrises, Fundacíon Pro Ayuda de Puerto Rico, Fundacíon Niños de Nueva Esperanza, Nuestra Casa de los Niños, Hogar Niñito Jesus, Hospital del Niño and Fundacíon Síndrome Down.
The K.I.D.S. Christmas Concert with the Puerto Rico Symphonic Orchestra has also become a tradition at the Caribe Hilton, and an exciting event was held during 2005 that teamed the Costa Caribe Golf & Country Club at Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort with the Caribe Hilton and Rotarios Perla del Sur to benefit Hogar Niños Maltratados de Ponce.
During the awards ceremony that followed the tournament, Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort presented three-year-old Alexander Berríos Medina and his family with airline tickets to Boston where Alexander will receive special medical attention. The toddler also received gifts of clothing, toys and luggage for his journey.
