Clothing
Daytime attire throughout the islands is casual, however, beachwear is inappropriate for shops and public areas. In the evening, jacket and tie may be required for gentlemen in the finer restaurants. A lightweight sweater, jacket or shawl is recommended for air-conditioned venues.
Currency
The Bahamian Dollar is the legal tender and is on par with the US dollar. They are both used interchangeably. Major credit cards and travelers cheques in dollar denominations are widely accepted.

Driving and Transportation
The British Colonial Hilton Nassau is located in downtown Nassau on Bay Street West. 20 Minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Cable Beach and 10 minutes from Paradise Island.
With close proximity to Florida , Nassau is the capital city of the Bahamas and is easy to reach by air or by sea. Nassau 's harbor alone can accommodate up to six cruise ships! Once you arrive in The Islands Of The Bahamas, you can use public transportation or rent a car to get about.
Getting around Nassau/Paradise Island is very easy. Set Rate taxis are always waiting outside the hotels and may also be hired by the hour. Water taxis operate daily between Nassau and Paradise Island. Buses run from the hotels to downtown Nassau throughout the daylight hours. Cars and motor scooters are available for rental. Please be aware that we drive on the left side of the road and that helmets are mandatory for all motor scooters.
